The black pepper plant (Piper nigrum) is a climbing shrub native to Asia, but it is now widely cultivated throughout the tropical region.
Its essential oil, with a warm, intense, and spicy scent, is obtained by steam distillation of the berries, harvested green and then sun-dried.
Its main functions are: digestive, helping activate gastric juices; carminative, reducing intestinal gas and associated abdominal discomfort; detoxifying, assisting the elimination of toxins through sweating; warming and energizing, stimulating blood circulation. Inhaled via a diffuser, it can help counter stress and anxiety.
