The mint plant (Mentha piperita) is native to the Mediterranean but is now widespread worldwide.
The essential oil of the plant, with a very fresh and penetrating scent, is obtained through steam distillation of its leaves.
Its origin is very ancient: in Egypt, documents have been found confirming the presence of this plant in tombs dating back to 1000 B.C.
Its main functions are: refreshing, decongesting and soothing, useful for swollen legs and as an after-sun treatment; stimulating for the nervous system and mind, enhancing concentration and reducing fatigue.
