Lemon (Citrus limonum) is a tree native to India, introduced to Europe only in the Middle Ages, and is now widely cultivated along the Mediterranean coasts. Cold-pressed from the peel of its fruit, its essential oil is widely used in cosmetics.
Its actions are numerous: astringent and detoxifying for oily and blemish-prone skin; stimulating for lymphatic and blood circulation, useful for heavy legs and cellulite; lipolytic, meaning it helps break down fats; in aromatherapy, it is used to infuse energy and courage, also enhancing concentration.
