Our products bearing the Nickel Tested logo are part of cosmetic lines that have been analysed by certified external laboratories to guarantee a nickel content of less than 0.0001%.

Why do we use nickel testing?
In nature, traces of nickel can be found everywhere: in water, in the soil, in many foods, in the ingredients used for cosmetics, and even in the stainless steel of the machinery used to produce the cosmetics.
Therefore, it is almost impossible for a product to be 100% nickel-free, which is why the law prohibits putting this label on cosmetics. Some people, if in contact with nickel for a prolonged period, may develop a contact allergy, or dermatitis, which manifests itself as redness, itching, blistering and cracking of the skin.
With careful selection of raw materials and the use of modern, little-used machinery, we have achieved such a low concentration of nickel in our cosmetics that they do not provoke an allergic reaction even in individuals sensitive to nickel.
Ardes nickel tested products
Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 regulating the production of cosmetics in Europe does not specify a maximum limit of nickel in cosmetics that can be understood as a technically unavoidable impurity, i.e. as a tolerable amount of nickel.
Some research has, however, shown that a nickel presence of between 1 and 3 ppm (parts per million), corresponding to 0.0001-0.0003% in the finished product, is the threshold of nickel reaction for sensitive individuals, i.e. the maximum amount they can tolerate.
At Ardes, we entrust certified external laboratories with analysing each batch of the lines (herbal, beauty or customised) that we produce and which carry the Nickel Tested stamp: Luxury Oil, Hyaluronic Acid, Specific Luxury Line, Tre Ori, Customised Herbal and Customised Beauty Lines, Ardes Bio, Treasures of Liguria, Plant-based Line, Prud-off, Supreme Bio Oil, Ialurelix.
We only sell those products (creams, gels, oils, cleansers and serums) that, according to laboratory results, have a nickel content of less than 0.0001%*.
Our labels
If you are sensitive to nickel, we advise avoiding the following products, which were found by our laboratory analyses to have exceeded the threshold:
- Mud (hot and cold),
- Restorative Mask,
- Mud Mask,
- Silhouette Body Lotion.
This is due to the mud, or mineral peloid, present in the formula and rich in trace elements, including nickel. This warning can also be found on the labels of each of our products for which the laboratory has detected an exceedance of the nickel reaction threshold.
