Grapefruit (Citrus grandis) is a plant native to Malaysia and Polynesia, although today it is cultivated in Florida and in many Countries around the Mediterranean basin.
The grapefruit name comes from the Dutch word “pompoen,” meaning large, and the Javanese word “limoes,” meaning lemon. In 1823, grapefruit was first exported from Barbados to Florida (USA), where it began to be planted increasingly extensively. Today, grapefruit is cultivated in all warm-climate Countries and in Italy, especially in Liguria, Campania, and Sicily.
The essential oil, with its typical fresh and slightly bitter scent, is obtained by cold pressing the fruit peel.
Grapefruit is a highly effective active ingredient for keeping the skin free from excess sebum. This fruit contains bioflavonoids, which help maintain healthy skin. It also has the highest concentration of Vitamin C among citrus fruits. This powerful combination of active ingredients neutralizes free radicals and is rich in water, fiber, and antioxidants.
Its main functions are: tonic and balancing for oily skin, stimulating the lymphatic system and appetite, and psycho-energetic tonic and euphoric effects.
Available fragrances besides Grapefruit: Bitter Orange, Lavender, Lemon, Mandarin, Melissa, Mint, Myrrh, Patchouli, Black Pepper, Sandalwood, Vetiver, and Ginger.
